Spiderman!

This is Spiderman. He is Savannah's very first pet. We got him today and invested a whole 28 cents for this little guy. Savannah has been great about trying to go on the potty and we have been telling her for about a week that if she goes on the potty she will get a fishy. (Note: this idea came about after Noah found a fish bowl at work and the cost of the pet was brought down to about $3.50 with water, rocks a plant and food.) We live in an apartment and will never bring in anything furry or slimy, but we figured since the life of a goldfish is so short and takes little work with no mess, we could handle this. Savannah woke up with a dry diaper and then held everything for three hours before deciding it was time to go potty. After we called Noah to tell him she went, he mentioned the word "fish" and the trip to find Spiderman quickly followed. And yes... Savannah named it.

My Awesome Babies

So I am amazed at how every day I love my kids more and more. They are changing all the time and as more baby proofing and potty training begin I am sad that they are getting so big. Jaxon and Savannah are so funny. Jaxon loves Savannah so much! She makes him smile all the time and he loves to follow her around. Savannah loves Jaxon most of the time. She always gives him hugs and kisses and asks if he is ok when he falls down. This morning she picked out his clothes and the two of them played together for a half hour without any tears while I took a shower. They conspire together to make big messes (like unrolling all the toilet paper) and have to take baths together. That's right... Jaxon will no longer take baths in his in between baby and big tub, he has to be in the big tub with Savannah and will try to get into the tub whenever the bathroom door is open.
They sit right next to each other during Yo Gabba Gabba and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and hardly move.
When Jaxon wants upstairs, Savannah will take down the baby gate and walk with him up the stairs. I really am lucky to have them and even though I am starting to get a little baby hungry and miss being pregnant, I am very happy with just my two little rascals for now.
Jaxon is changing so much! He is crawling all over and yesterday he stood for about 3 seconds without holding onto anything. He is such a good baby and loves to cuddle when he is not wandering around the house. He is still teething like crazy and the Dr said he is getting lots of teeth coming in very soon. Jaxon is currently fighting a double ear infection and you wouldn't know it. Nothing slows him down! He loves to eat everything in sight and can out eat Savannah.
Savannah is doing great! She is finally showing more interest in potty training and wants to sit on the potty and wear her panties all the time. Unfortunately she does not like to go every time she wants to try so we have lots of accidents, but it's still progress. She is starting to eat a little more variety and loves to play all the time. I can understand more and more of what she is trying to say and the temper tantrums are now few and far between. I am loving this stage of life right now.
Btw... Noah is still job hunting but things are looking well. Hopefully we will have more news soon!!

A Good Day!

Yesterday was a great day! I love when Noah has a day off and we do something fun. As soon as I got home from work, took a shower and after an early lunch we headed out. We bought a cheap kite and headed to the park. Savannah LOVED it! She had so much fun and every time Noah let her hold the kite string she dropped it and Noah ran to chase it, so I loved watching too.
When they got tired of the kite we headed over to the park. Savannah helped push Jaxon on the swings and even showed a little independence and wandered around on her own. She is pretty impressive to watch at a playground because she is not afraid of anything. A group of about 5-6 kids between the ages of 5 and 7 were wandering around and one boy asked Savannah what her name was. Noah and I stood back and let her be and both of us got so excited when she answered all on her own and said "My name Sa-yan-a." We have never heard her tell anyone else her name when asked. My little girl is growing up!
We then went shoe shopping and both Savannah and Jaxon got some new shoes. Savannah loves shoes and an entire store of them was very exciting for her. We made this little trip because she was saying "ow" when we tried to get her feet into her size 7 light up Minnie mouse shoes and when they measured her feet and she was a size 9, I understood why she said her feet hurt in the other shoes. We measured Jaxon's feet too and he is a size 4! My little boy is getting so big!!
After a nice drive around different neighborhoods and a pit stop for formula we headed home. Savannah then decided she wanted to paint. I love that she is so artistic. She loves to do anything with paper, and painting is her newest love. She is very good at making circles and is starting to try to draw specific objects.
After painting we had a little outside time behind our place and then read another chapter of our book before saying good night. I had a wonderful day!

letting your baby cry = brain damage

I was reading one of my favorite mommy blogs and she commented on a new study. I found this article and thought I would share. I let Savannah cry for 2 nights and couldn't do it anymore. I'm glad I stopped. In doing research on the author... she knows her stuff!

Morning Thoughts

This morning I have been thinking about a few random things...
  • In less than four months I will have a one year old and three year old
  • I really want a cheeseburger!!
  • After 5 days, when will Jaxon's bright green boogers go away?
  • What do I do for my kid's birthdays when they are two days apart and Noah could possibly not even be in town?
  • I turn 25 in less than a month and I am starting to feel old.
  • I figured out on the calendar that I wont be done with this diet until June 23 and that seems very far away, then maintenance starts and who knows how that will go.
  • Herbal tea for breakfast blows!

It's been a busy morning for my mind

Diet update

So last Sunday Noah and I started the hcg diet. We are taking the drops and following the 500 vlcd (very low calorie diet). I really hate it, but it is working so we will press on. I am really getting used to it and seeming some simple changes we can make in our diet when we are done to be a little healthier. I just really really want a cupcake. We had our load days last Sunday and Monday and so far from our highest weights I am down 7 lbs and Noah has lost 11 as of yesterday morning. I can't deny the results, but really you can't gain when you eat so little so I am not surprised. We have 40 days of drops and skip drops once a week so there are less than 40 days left! I'm so excited to see how this goes and lucky to have Noah get me through it.

What a week!!

So this week has been pretty great. Life has been very stressful due to finding out Hollywood Video is closing their doors. My acne is pretty much at its worst in a long time and I have been not sleeping well due to the stress, but even through the drama, life seems to still have several great moments. Savannah has been such a great girl the past week. She has been listening more, saying so many new words and actually making some sense, says "may I" when she asks for anything, and is cleaning up when I ask. I know these are pretty normal things for most children, but Savannah has always been a bit of a diva and the term terrible twos fit her well. I love the way she has been. She is so nice to Jaxon and the two of them are getting along so well. The random smiles and hugs and even hand holding in the car is so cute.
Jaxon is crawling so fast now and has finally decided to explore instead of follow me around. Its been a few days of him getting more into toys and not minding every time he falls the 12 inches to the floor from standing. He is a bit of an emotional and sensitive boy and Noah and I are very happy he is finally toughening up a bit. He transitions and cruises on every piece of furniture he can. Noah is 28 now!! His birthday was on Thursday. He had Wednesday off, so we decided to go out a day early. It was such a good day. We had lunch at Tucanos, then went on the hunt for books to ready as a family before bedtime. After a trip to Borders for some books and then the purchase of some goods at the chocolate store for Savannah, we headed to the library and then the park. We are now about 1/4th of the way through A Series of Unfortunate Events book 1. I am loving the family time and Savannah is loving more reading time. On Noah's birthday Savannah helped me decorate and put up signs and streamers. I found some old birthday party supplies and Savannah had to set up the "party." I made Noah his favorite dinner and we had to wear Mickey Mouse ears and use Mickey Mouse napkins (Savannah's "party" setup). Noah asked for hcg for his birthday and I'm gifting it to myself for Mother's Day. We start tomorrow and though I am sad to not eat much, I am exciting for results. Here's to hoping we are skinny in 43 days!!! I love Noah so much. It was crazy to think that Thursday not only marked his birthday, but 4 years since he proposed! I am so lucky to have Noah as a husband. I wrote him a little letter on Wednesday night at work and as I was thinking of what to say I was reminded by so many reasons I love him. I truly am blessed to have him in my life. I used to kid that I knew he was "the one" because I didn't want to date one of his friends more than him, but there is so much more than that. He always knows how to make me smile, makes me laugh and always knows exactly what I need. Its amazing how you think you love someone and couldn't love them anymore, but somehow your love just keeps growing.
Cross your fingers that Noah gets a new job soon!!

Jaxon's first tooth

Jaxon's first tooth came in over a month ago. I did not think he would be seeing the dentist so soon, but this past Wednesday he had his first appointment. It was 3 weeks of waiting for the first available appointment after I thought that the yellow spot on his tooth just did not seem normal and thought I should call. The receptionist and nearby hygienist had never heard of something like it (always reassuring).

So after a quick look of me holding Jaxon's body and his head resting in the dentist's lap he started to explain it all to me. I guess 8 weeks in utero, while his teeth started their first stage of development, something just didn't form right. This caused the other two stages of tooth growth to not be right. Hopefully it's just the one tooth but there may be more. Jaxon will have to visit the dentist more often and is much more likely to have cavities and even crowns on his sweet little teeth. Who would have thought that a yellow spot would make me so sad. Now every time he pulls himself up in his crib or onto the coffee table or TV stand and starts to chew, I get a little nervous. His tooth is going to wear down easily and will probably have a bowed down "crescent" shape soon because it is so soft.
