My Crawling Champ!

Jaxon started crawling at 6 and a half months, just like Savannah. Those two are so alike in many ways! He is crawling better and better and loves having that little freedom... mainly to follow me whenever I set him down for a minute (he is a Mommy's boy). I think the other reason he likes it is because it lets him find Savannah's leftover snacks and have a little treat. He is starting to pull himself up to standing with anything he can find and yesterday he even transferred himself between the saucer and coffee table at my parents house. My hopes for him walking later than Savannah at 9 months are gone, but I am excited to see my little guy get bigger and bigger. More teeth and walking are not far off in the future. I just hope his appetite doesn't get too much bigger because he is already eating solids four times a day and that's not including snacks. He is such a sweet, cuddly, always hungry and happy little boy. We are very lucky to have him. I can't believe its been almost 7.5 months since he was born. We all love him, including Savannah, who I actually caught hugging and kissing Jaxon this morning when I was making her breakfast. I am truly blessed with two great kids, although I do agree with the term "terrible two's. "

Krispy Kreme

This morning we decided to have a little family outting for breakfast. I have wanted to take Savannah to Krispy Kreme for a while and we decided today worked. She LOVED it! She loved watching to conveyor belts, flipping doughnuts and glaze shower. She was fascinated and with her pink milk in hand, studied the whole opperation. She picked out her sprinkled breakfast treat and loved looking at everything. Its funny how those simple little adventures can make a kid so happy.

Oh the memories!

My parents are finally done moving everything into their house. They made the trek to Florida and emptied out the storage units into a couple trucks. After getting stuck in Wyoming they finally made it here and on Friday night my dad brought over a few of my things.
Most people who know me, know that I am still a bit of a kid at heart and I was never able to part with a few of my childhood belongings. I had a big yard sale before I got married and parted with a lot, but there were a few things I kept in hopes that my kids would like them someday. I have a couple tea sets, lots of collectible Barbies in boxes, my 4 story dollhouse with all the furniture sets, a toy bench, and a few other mementos and sentimental items. The dollhouse and box with tea sets were a couple of the things my dad dropped off. My parents also gave us their piano. I'm so excited to try to pick up a little of the piano again and by judging from how happy it makes Savannah and Jaxon, having them take lessons too. Here are a couple pics!
This is my princess tea set. It is already a favorite of Savannah. She is a little OCD with it and everything has to be lined up and just so at each setting.
This is the back of my dollhouse box. I told Savannah I will put it up when she uses the potty and I think I am more excited then she is. I spent a few years and lots of allowances saving up for most of my playmobil. I still remember getting German Marks for my birthdays so I could go pick things out at the Playmobil factory and I remember getting the house and extra floor for Christmas presents. Lots of memories are rolled into my Playmobil and honestly the second I was told I was having a girl when I was pregnant with Savannah, I thought about this dollhouse.

My kids are LOVING the piano! Savannah asks to play it and Jaxon gets so excited when I sit him on the bench. They both softly hit the keys and laugh. The giant smiles on their faces are SO worth the more crowded look of our living room and just seeing them play it makes me smile. I remember playing and practicing on that same pink corduroy bench and am so excited to have a large reminder of my childhood in my home. This piano moved all over with my family and I can remember where it sat in almost every home. This is the first piece of furniture in our home that has been handed down and I am very grateful for it! Next project is re-upholstering the bench though. The pink corduroy has seen better days

Trip to the Hogle Zoo

On Thursday my sister and I took our kids to the zoo. I hadn't been in years so I thought it would be fun. We had a very good time. We saw pretty much everything and though Savannah loved to run off in front, she had a great time. Here are a few pictures!
Kaden waiting for the train
Eli and Savannah looking for Golden Tamarin monkeys
We found the baby
Watching the Orangutan
Mom and baby elephant
Savannah and Eli watching the elephants
nap time

Picture taken on our way out. I have no idea why it is turning when I upload it, but I love it so I had to show it off

We had a great Easter this year! It was wonderful to not have to worry about getting Savannah and Jaxon dolled up and to just have a day in pajamas. It was General Conference Sunday,so we enjoyed being able to sit at home and watch the worldwide broadcast from our church leaders and spend time just as a family. It was a great opportunity to really have a day focused on the Savior and each other.
With no makeup and hair to do, we decided Savannah could have her egg hunt in her jammies and hid the eggs on Saturday night. Her basket was waiting in the middle of the stairs and she very quickly started running around. I think her favorite discovery of all was her Easter basket on the table. We have watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on blu ray several times since.
Jaxon had plenty of fun playing with plastic eggs and getting a few samplings of Savannah's candy (don't tell Noah).

Potty training woes

So these past couple weeks have been crazy! Jaxon is always so happy and laughs at every little thing. He loves to stand up and if there is something close by he can pull himself up by using... he tries. He stands on the outside of the megasaucer pretty well and I am pretty sure my hopes of him waiting longer than Savannah did to walk at 9 months, are going away.

This past weekend was General Conference, which means we had church at home watching the worldwide broadcast from our church leaders. Since we were home, Noah and I thought this would be a good time to try a little pushing on potty training. It did not go well! Savannah really doesn't mind wetting herself at all, which is not very helpful. She loves her panties, loves to wipe, flush, etc.., but the actual act of going on the potty is something she does not care about. The thought of not buying diapers for two kids sounds so nice, but we will just have to wait. After going through 5 pairs of pants a day for 4 days and our house smelling like pee, we gave up. Hopefully she will soon have the desire to do it, especially since she is already telling us she has to before she does. I just wish when we set her on the potty she would go, instead of waiting until right after she gets off.

By the way, while writing this post Savannah and Jaxon were watching Toy Story 2 and Savannah was eating an oreo. I guess she decided to share because this is what I found.

my growing kiddos

A few shots I tried to get Jaxon's new teeth in, but no luck! I still think they are cute though.

My kids just keep growing. Savannah is becoming a little more interested in potty training and I think this weekend we are going to let her start wearing her panties. She is saying more and more and randomly blurts out with long sentences and words that I have no idea where she picked up.

Jaxon now has two teeth coming in. The first starting coming out of his gum line on the 21st of last month and the second tooth made an appearance on this past Monday. Luckily this did not make Jaxon super cranky when his Uncle Spencer came to visit. Jaxon is rolling SO much and has started to crawl a little two weeks ago. Its a very exaggerated army crawl with a little rolling action in the mix, but I think he will have it all down in no time! Jaxon has been babbling "dadadadadad" all the time for the last couple months, but it was directed at everything. Lately he has been adding a few "words." He actually says "mom," which I love. He says it directed at me and he reaches for me if I am nearby, or he will repeat it over and over until I pick him up so Noah and I are considering this his first word. He also says "nanana," which usually stops when Savannah comes to him. He is also eating like a champ. He eats a giant bowl of rice cereal for breakfast and then at least a container and a half of baby food for both lunch and dinner.

I love my kids!
