To snip or not to snip

So I have a twitter account and occasionally post random tweets. Today I called my insurance company and was told they will cover our son's circumcision wherever it is done and so I tweeted a little something about it earlier today. I was happy about it because it has never been a question for me as to whether we would have it done. I think Noah remembers making fun of his cousin too much to ever put our own son through it, and I figure its not really something I have an emotional connection to.

So I just checked my email and have a new follower on twitter who sent me tons of anti circumcision links. Apparently I am not giving my son a choice before I mutate his body the way God gave it to him. I know its cosmetic and I know its not medically necessary to have it done, but I really think its Noah's choice as his father and another male, to make the choice. I don't need strange people sending me links about how I am "making a choice my child will never be able to take back." People are weird. I know everyone has their own views on the subject and I respect that, just don't send me links about how evil I am.

10 weeks left.. I hope

So I love Friday mornings for several reasons, but one of my favorite things are the emails I get from babycenter.com. Every Friday morning I have a little email titled with how many week I am and it tells me what is going on this coming week with the baby. Apparently he now weighs about 2.5 lbs, is 15 inches long, and his bones are now hardening more, but my favorite part is that I get my little reminder. This pregnancy has gone by SO fast! I have been running around and keeping myself so busy that I actually forget I am pregnant until I bend too far or look in the mirror. Noah had to tell me how far along I was a week ago because I could not even remember. Well thanks to my email I know I am 29 weeks along!

On another note, I did go to my dr yesterday. Everything was great. His heartbeat was 153 and he is measuring right on track. I have low blood pressure still and luckily have not gotten crazy swollen yet, like I did with Savannah. I happen to have the worst due date because its on a Friday. Friday is an "on call" day for the Dr's in the practice and so if it is not my Dr's weekend, I will be waiting until Tuesday the 8th to say hello to my little guy. I am grateful I will still be induced early, but I am really hoping its the 4th and not the 8th. Here is my reasoning...
  • My child needs to stay somewhere and so far my only option for her is a house of teachers. Friday to Saturday night would just be easier for them.
  • People seem to have more time on the weekends if I get to come home on Saturday or Sunday and need help with something I have a better chance of finding someone.
  • Monday is a holiday which means people will have it off (mainly my mother who will be busy with the beginning of the school year so taking time off is not much of an option).
  • My child would be out sooner.

Life can be crazy and never what you expect, but I am sure hoping it goes my way this time. My Dr said he knows he is not taking vacation for Labor day weekend, so I am praying the other Dr's are so everything will fall into place. A girl can dream and my dream is to be induced 10 weeks from today.

Random update

We did go visit Chuck E Cheese and had a super sweet coupon that got us 100 tokens for $10. Savannah is very good at putting in tokens and taking tickets, but this was her favorite thing. I am pretty sure we used about 10 tokens on this thing.

So last Friday was my birthday and I got several fun things. My mom and dad sent me some sweet gifts and among them was the biggest messenger bag I have ever seen. It has Hello Kitty on it, which only makes Savannah love it more. Until I decided to use it for my work bag, this huge bag was Savannah's little pouch. Like a Kangaroo, I actually wore it around the house with my little sweet daughter in the bag. I must say it is quite durable. Savannah actually took naps in it a couple times, but mainly played in it on the floor.

We have also been baking a bit more and Savannah is a pro. She sure loves a spatula and is a big fan of cookies.

Savannah after nursery last week. She made it to her chair, but no further.

A Simple and Lovely Day

So today has been wonderful so far! I woke up before Savannah at 8:15, we got ready for little gym and then headed out for the day. Little gym was once again lonely with just the two of us and the teacher, but Savannah had a great time as always. We went to the mall afterwards to use my gift card to bath and body works from my parents. I now should have a very good smelling house, as we purchased a plethora of wallflowers, candles and hand sanitizers (Savannah's new favorite thing). I came home to check the mail and got a few birthday cards, so I decided to go make a bank deposit and go to target while we were out again. We picked up father's day cards and a few other things after having lunch at the super fancy Target Cafe. :) Savannah did not want to sit in a high chair so we tried the normal chair and she was amazing! She sat across from me and said "please" and "thank you" so many times. Sometimes I am amazed at how good she can be, especially since she has been such a trouble maker lately. I just love her! Now we are watching Chicken Little (which she requested by name) and soon will have nap time. Such a perfect day :)

Another one bites the dust

So today I reached the ripe old of age of 24! Its a little scary to turn older at this point. In fact I think anything over 21 really does not come easily. I'm glad it was a low key day. I worked last night so I got home at 9:15, Noah gave me a few presents and then headed off to work, Savannah and I played until we went out to lunch with my friend Nicole, and then came home and played some more. Its almost 8pm and Noah is stuck at work still dealing with some drama and I am taking a short break from Blues Clues. I feel like a bad mom because I have put off dinner. We were going to go out so Savannah has eaten apple slices and pretzels to hold her off and I haven't eaten anything for a while so I can be hungry when Noah gets home. I think the unborn child needs me to give in, especially after my attempts at my new Disney DDR game caused his living quarters to contract a bit and he has been kicking a lot since.

I think my favorite thing about birthdays is the calls and little messages. Its nice to sign on to facebook and have tons of comments, get little text messages, and sometimes phone calls. One of my favorite things about my birthday are the little traditions. My brother probably does not realize it, but since he got home from his mission he has texted me my first happy birthday greeting in the middle of the night every year. My other favorite thing is that my dad calls and as soon as I say hello he starts to sing Happy Birthday. Its funny how little things like that mean so much more to me than presents (something I would not have said 5 years ago). I loved talking with my sister and spending some time with friends, and more than anything I loved having a good day mostly at home with my daughter. I kept thinking that by next year we will have another baby and she will have changed so much. Time is something I don't take for granted and my 23rd year was a great year, but too fast!

First trip to Labor and Delivery

So Savannah and I have been having tummy issues for about 5 days. She seems to be ok with drinking plenty of fluids and not throwing up, but Thursday and Friday I could not keep anything down at all. I called my Dr just to see if there is something I could take and because I was having severe cramping that was bringing me to tears, they told me I had to go to the hospital. Luckily I have super awesome friends and neighbors that called me back and I actually had options for Savannah. She stayed with my really amazing neighbor Ginger for 5 hours while Noah was stuck at work and I was stuck with an IV in my hand. Thank you Elise too!! Your so sweet for offering to help and checking up on me!

I have never had any issues with needles. I am not scared of them and they are always easy for nurses to find my veins and stick me with. Yesterday was a different story. I was told I had flat veins because I was so dehydrated and was probably going to break my nurses record of doing perfect IV sticks. She used a newborn baby needle and after a little digging, was able to get everything going. After 3 liters of fluid, peeing in a cup, and getting a catheter, I was finally allowed to go home. They still have no idea what caused me to not keep anything down, but I am now fully hydrated and the crazy pain is gone. I just really hope I do not continue to feel sick because the next thing would be a stool sample and I pray that is something I never have to do in my life!

So I have now broken my goal of only going to the hospital once during this pregnancy. With Savannah I went 4 times before I was finally going to give birth and this time I wanted it to be just once. Oh well, I guess you cant really predict everything.

Vegas/ Arizona trip

After work on Thursday I drove to the Dr's office for a checkup on the baby. Everything is going great, but I was told that I need to lay off the long walks because I get contractions when I take them. That kind of stinks, and its put girl's camp completely out of the question. The baby's heart rate was 144 beats per minute and he was moving from the top to the bottom of my uterus, avoiding the Dr. It was pretty funny.

When I got home from all that fun, we got right on the road for our trip. Our friend Tyler got married on Saturday in Mesa, so we made a little family trip. Thursday we drove to Las Vegas and stayed in the Planet Hollywood Hotel. It was really nice. We mainly stayed there because they have an Earl of Sandwich and I have been craving their tomato soup my entire pregnancy. It was worth it. I had two bowls. Savannah had a lot of fun in the hotel too. We did not have to teach her to jump on the bed and she had so much fun exploring around. We walked the strip a little too. Savannah loved it! She sang along to the entire Bellagio water show and some poor lady next to us has video of the show with Savannah providing the music louder than the speakers. She loved the lights and was so happy.

Friday we drove to Mesa, Arizona. We had a lot of fun making "dam" jokes while we crossed the Hoover Dam, and also decided that the desert is an ugly place. We found our hotel and then went to Tyler's rehearsal dinner. It was at this really nice country club and had really yummy food. Savannah had lots of fun playing with the party favors. Tyler and Jackie were so cute and thought of everything! We very much enjoyed the bags they put together for people staying in hotels. It was well equipped with water, Gatorade, sunscreen, snacks, a CD, and a very cute little map of their favorite places in the area.

Saturday was the wedding at the Mesa Temple. It was super hot! Noah and Savannah hung out and took pictures outside while I went in the temple to see them be sealed together. It was really nice. After some picture taking we wandered around the Visitor's Center and then headed to get something to cool us down. We were going to go swimming, but decided that sitting in our dark room with the a/c on high was a better option until the reception. After a little drive, we got to the reception at Jackie's home. It was very nice. They had a big tent set up with lots of lights and catered food. We all had a great time. Savannah was a little hard to handle at first, but as soon as the dancing started she was very happy. She dragged Noah onto the dance floor to help her spin, until she realized she could dance on her own. She was so funny. She spun in circles for about an hour. I think we will be starting dance classes when she is three!

Sunday we drove back home after a stop at Chino Bandido. Its a place we saw on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. It was really good. Savannah slept for a lot of the drive and we all had a good time watching the scenery change. Northern Arizona is really pretty and when we hit the Grand Canyon National Park we were amazed. At about 12:30am we finally got home and went straight to bed.
